Walkabouts is inspired by the Aborigines, the indigenous people of Australia. From time to time they go on walkabout, a common usage, walking spiritual long walks through their environment. The purpose is renewing contact between people, their environment and history. The organisation offers seven walks through Amsterdam. Walkabouts also offers walks in Leiden, Alkmaar and Haarlem. The guide is providing you with information about architecture and history of that specific part of the city. An arrangement is focused on your wishes as a group. A walk is always included and might be combined with a workshop ( painting-, singing-, theatersport activities), business meeting, concert, lunch, dinner, pubcrawl or hightea. Walkabouts combines walks with art, eating out, workshops and meetings. The organisation cooperates with The Bethaniën Convent, Hofje van Wijs, Arti et Amicitiae , Galerie Gaia, Polanen Theatre in Amsterdam. Additionally Walkabouts cooperates with De Poort in Leiden, grand café De Studio in Alkmaar, café De Waag and KZOD ( Art is our goal-Kunst Zij Ons Doel) in Haarlem. |
